How to Build More Than Houses

Step 1- Take Inventory.
Douglas County Habitat for Humanity is immensely grateful for your previous support or interest in the work we do. As we continue to push forward with the legwork necessary to begin our next construction projects (dates to be announced), we must simultaneously grow all the resources that make our work possible.

Step 2- Review Your Instructions & Get Necessary Tools. 
Because our resources are limited, Douglas Habitat turns away many qualified applicant families every year. Applicants go through a several step application process that includes financial interviews, multiple forms of documentation, home inspections, etc. Many families may meet our selection qualifications, but we can only select as many families as we can
afford to build with.

Step 3- Picture/Know Your Goal.
We currently have 58 prospective applicants awaiting the opportunity to own a Habitat home. With one family already selected and the dream of selecting 2 more families for 2008, we ask your help with our annual fund drive. Douglas County Habitat for Humanity is funded primarily through (1) home sponsorships, and (2) grants and donations from individuals, businesses, congregations, and private foundations. As Habitat is a grassroots organization, our policy is that no government funds may be accepted for the purchase of building materials or administrative costs.

Step 4- Pull it all together & Pat Yourself on the Back.
Our 2008 annual fund drive is entitled More Than Houses to express mission of building and rehabilitating homes that are affordable havens of hope for hardworking families. Our work is not possible without the volunteer labor and financial support of the community. We welcome your support in any area you are able to assist.
