Building Homes and Hope

Douglas County Habitat for Humanity (DCHFH) was established in 1991in Douglasville, Georgia, and is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity International. We are a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that builds houses in partnership with Douglas County families in need.

Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabs simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold and rehab work performed to partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build and rehab still more Habitat houses.

Habitat is not a giveaway program. In addition to a down payment and the monthly mortgage payments, Douglas County Habitat homeowners participate through a sweat equity program during the construction of their own Habitat house and the houses of others.
